On K-swapped cars without heater cores and with top-mounted shifters, most folks run the shifter cables through the firewall. You can use the existing heater core hole or drill a new one lower on the firewall. But after installation, you're left with ugly gaps around the cables. That's why we designed this special grommet. It gets rid of those ugly gaps and protects the cable from the sharp edges of the hole. The K-Tuned Cable Grommet features a billet frame with a 7/16” thick rubber grommet. Just drill 4 holes in the corners of the frame and use the included hardware to fasten it in place. It's perfect for race cars and any place where shifter cables pass through a firewall.

Using this K-Tuned shifter cable grommet is easy. First, decide whether you'll use the existing heater core hole or drill a new one on the firewall for the shifter cables. Once you've made that choice and run the cables through, take the grommet. Drill 4 holes at the corners of the billet frame. Then, use the included hardware to fasten the grommet securely in place around the cables. As for maintenance, occasionally check the rubber grommet for any signs of wear or damage. If it starts to look worn out, you might want to replace it. Also, make sure the hardware stays tight to keep the grommet in place and doing its job well.
