Product Description
As we all know, journal bearings have long been a turbocharger's strength and are still widely used in most turbochargers today. However, the ball bearing cartridge represents the latest in turbocharger bearing technology, bringing significant performance improvements. Comp Turbo has taken this technology to a whole new level! Comp Turbo's innovative design and technology have set a new standard for quality, performance, and value. High-performance applications demand a turbocharger that can accelerate quickly to build boost pressure as rapidly as possible. This allows the engine to generate high torque at low engine speeds and produce extremely high power output at maximum engine speeds. Enter Comp Turbo's patented Triplex Ceramic Turbochargers! Comp Turbo's ball bearing turbochargers feature a patented triplex ball bearing design with an amazing 99% mechanical efficiency. This results in a faster transient response compared to the industry-standard dual ball bearing system due to minimized friction losses. It dramatically improves response times and maximizes power output. Our patented Triplex Ceramic bearing system is housed in a billet aluminum cartridge, making our turbochargers 5 to 12 pounds lighter on average than others. Our entire line of turbochargers is proudly made in the USA and features our latest R-Line technology. It consists of the CTR 7/14 veined billet slim hub extended tip compressor wheel and the high-efficiency CTR slim hub lightweight high-flow turbine wheel, our most advanced rotor technology yet. Features: • Titanium Bullet Nose • Fully Rebuildable/Upgradeable • Anti-Surge Compressor Housing • CTR Compressor and Turbine Wheel • Triplex Ceramic Bearing System CTR Compressor Wheel Technology: The CTR-line turbochargers have a compressor wheel with 7 - 14 vanes, embodying the latest compressor design technology. They have a minimum diameter hub to maximize intake airflow and an extended tip design for increased efficiency at higher pressure ratios. The R-line design, with maximum inducer diameters, can produce higher boost pressures at high engine speeds and increase engine HP output by up to 15%. The R-line advanced design compressor wheels are now available on our entire CT turbocharger line. CTR High Flow Turbine Technology: The CTR turbine wheels have 25% lower inertia, leading to faster rotor acceleration. The slim hub and thin blade design make this wheel unique. This design maximizes the flow capacity, increasing it by 30% more than the previous GT style turbine wheel. The Comp Turbo CTR high-flow turbine wheels have minimal leaving velocity due to a longer surface blade length, thus minimizing leaving losses. This leads to higher turbine efficiency and a greater flow range than other available turbine wheels in the industry. CTR turbine wheels are designed for high exhaust flow requirements and have minimal leaving gas velocity, which increases turbine efficiency. Turbochargers are built to order and take 3 to 5 weeks to deliver.
Using your Comp Turbo turbocharger is straightforward. First, make sure it's properly installed according to the vehicle's specifications. When starting the engine, let it idle for a short while to allow the oil to circulate and lubricate the turbocharger. This helps prevent damage to the bearings. During normal operation, avoid sudden and extreme throttle changes, as this can put unnecessary stress on the turbocharger. When shutting down the engine, it's a good idea to let it idle for a couple of minutes to cool down the turbocharger. This helps prevent oil coking in the bearings. For maintenance, regularly check the oil level and quality. The turbocharger relies on clean oil for proper lubrication. If the oil is dirty or low, replace or top it up immediately. Also, inspect the air intake and exhaust systems for any signs of damage or blockage. Any restrictions can affect the turbocharger's performance. Every so often, have a professional mechanic check the turbocharger for any signs of wear and tear. If you notice any strange noises, reduced performance, or oil leaks, it's important to address the issue right away. Remember, turbochargers are built to order and take 3 to 5 weeks to deliver, so plan ahead if you need a replacement.
